St. Jude's Math-a-thon Alamo Elementary recently participated in a math-a-thon to raise money for the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Students completed a math supplement in addition to their regular classwork during the month of January. Our students raised $2500 for the hospital plus Mrs. Dickinson's class (pictured here) raised an additional $240 for a little girl currently being treated at St. Jude's. :: read more ::
Reminder for Parents On days that we have bad weather, Kindergarten children will be picked up at 3:10 PM in front of the cafeteria and 3rd Graders will be picked up at 3:25 PM in front of the cafeteria.
St. Valentine's Day Valentine flower arrangements may be delivered to our front office on Tuesday, February 14th until Noon. Please have your child's name (last, first) and teacher's name on the flowers. Arrangements will be delivered to your child's room to take home when school is dismissed.
100 The 100th day of school is a big milestone for our Kindergarten classes! This special day was on Monday, January 30th. The students celebrated their 100th day of learning with 100 collections, 100 day posters, 100 day t-shirts and learning centers developed by our Kindergarten teachers. The celebration ended with all of the students blowing out 100 candles on a "100th Day Cake".
PIP Players In Progress (PIP) is a group of Kindergarten through 6th Grade students who attend various schools in our district although the dedicated folks who lead the program are mostly employed at Alamo Elementary. Delma Sanchez is the head coach. She and her helpers work with the children to develop impressive basketball skills and - in the process - improved self-esteem, work ethic and general fitness. Retro Bill Show Alamo students attended Retro Bill's "Safety and Self-Esteem Show" at the high school on Tuesday, January 3rd. This entertaining and motivational speaker is the "Official International D.A.R.E. Safety Buddy" and speaks at D.A.R.E. events all over the world encouraging students to live a drug, alcohol and tobacco free lifestyle; stand up to bullying and gangs; and how to seek help from a trusted adult. Officer Maribel Perkins is our local D.A.R.E. coordinator. Retro Bill is sponsored by the Fort Stockton Police Department D.A.R.E. Program and Fort Stockton Intermediate School. PTO Update The PTO raised about $2,650.00 at the Christmas Festival held on Saturday, December 10th! Thank you to everyone who helped out and everyone who attended!
